YAY, a BULL SHARK on PROTEA BANKS today.

Northern Pinnacles: Just missed the first cave but made it to the second. Only a few sharks teeth in there and a Starfish that Brad pointed out to me ... hehe. Otherwise reef full of the normal 'pretty' fish. Had a Potato Bass and a Remora entertaining us. 1 Bull (Zambezi) shark came in to show itself mid water. Also a shoal of juvenile Rainbow Runners. All in all well worth a day in the water.

So it was inevitable, Brian left the country today so of course PROTEA BANKS was back to her old and amazing self ...

DIVE 1 - BAITED SHARK DIVE: Dive started off with a psycho Potato Bass that stole our bait ... lol. Then a psycho Remora that got fatter and fatter as we watched him devour bits of sardines. The sharks then started coming in. At first 2 Oceanic Blacktip sharks and then the Bull (Zambezi) sharks. Full on action with Oceanic Blacktip and Bull (Zambezi) sharks in and out for the entire dive. We had at least 4 Bull (Zambezi) sharks and 8 Oceanic Blacktip sharks on the dive .... WOW an absolutely stunning dive!!!!!!

DIVE 2 - Southern Pinnacles: As we got to the bottom we had an Eagle Ray. Then some Oceanic Blacktip action. Also a Round Ribbontail Ray. The some more Oceanic Blacktip and Bull (Zambezi) shark action - did not know where to look first. The one Bull (Zambezi) shark was MASSIVE!!!! As we hit Sand Shark Gully we spotted at least 5 Guitar sharks. Coming up the Bull (Zambezi) sharks were our friends following us up the entire way - awesome stuff!!!!!!  The reef was also alive with all the normal reef fish but we also had big shoals of Kingfish, Tuna and Bonito. What a fantastic non-stop action packed dive. WHOOP, WHOOP, can't wait for tomorrow!!!

Southern Pinnacles: Bull (Zambezi) shark and Oceanic Blacktip shark action - with them popping in out out throughout the dive. Also 1 Guitar shark as well as an Eagle and Round Ribbontail Ray. Also 1 Potato Bass. A HUGE shoal of Bigeye Kingfish came swimming through the divers. Reef also alive with the normal reef fish. AN ABSOLUTELY STUNNING DIVE!!!

Southern Pinnacles: Full on Bull (Zambezi) shark and Oceanic Blacktip shark action towards the end of the dive. We had an Eagle Ray pass by as well as a Potato Bass. Encountered the usual reef fish and came across a beautiful juvenile Lion fish. What an another AMAZING dive on PROTEA!!!

Southern Pinnacles: Great diving today with Bull (Zambezi) sharks and Oceanic Blacktip sharks. Also a Greater Hammerhead shark came in close. Big shoal of Bonito. Lots of reef fish and 'jellies'.

DIVE 1 - BAITED SHARK DIVE: 6 energetic Bull (Zambezi) sharks, as well as a few Oceanic Blacktip sharks entertained us throughout the dive. On drop, a HUGE TIGER shark circled us for a while.

DIVE 2 - Southern Pinnacles: A stunning dive on Protea Banks, the reef was full of fish. We came across a MASSIVE Honeycomb Moray Eel. An entertaining Potato Bass came passing through and a couple of Catfish decided to show themselves. We spotted two Scorpion fish hidden in a hole on the reef. Was definitely worth the dive!

Snorkeled with Dolphins ... whoop, whoop! 

DIVE 1 - Southern Pinnacles: There was a Guitar shark and a Potato Bass. Dolphins ... whoop, whoop!! Lots of reef fish, reef was alive!!

DIVE 2 - Southern Pinnacles: On drop a beautiful Bull (Zambezi) shark showed itself. Also Yellowfin Tuna, lots of reef fish, nice size Crayfish. A Bull (Zambezi) shark accompanied us on our accent! It was a nice relaxed dive.

BAITED SHARK DIVE: Just before we dropped in, a beautiful TIGER shark surfaced and hung around for a little bit. Approximately 6 Bull (Zambezi) sharks in and out for the whole dive. 2 brave but cheeky Oceanic Blacktip sharks passing though all the divers (up close and personal). WICKED DIVE!!

DIVE 1 - Northern Pinnacles: There were lots and lots of Ragged-tooth sharks everywhere!! Also spotted an incredibly large Brindle Bass moving out of the cave where the Ragged-tooth sharks hang out. The reef was also full of life ...

DIVE 2 - Southern Pinnacles: We came across a beautiful Lion fish among some other stunning reef fish. 2 or 3 Ragged-tooth sharks decided to pass by as well as a Potato Bass.

Both dives today on Protea Banks were truly amazing!!!

Northern Pinnacles: As we reached the reef, Ragged-tooth sharks were everywhere. There were so many, you were constantly seeing Ragged-tooth sharks all the way to the second cave. It was truly amazing. The reef was full of fish. Two very inquisitive Potato Bass decided to show themselves. A big shoal of Fusiliers passed by on our ascent as well as some game fish. It was an amazing dive!!!

WHALE season started on Protea Banks ... whoop, whoop!!!!!

DIVE 1 - Southern Pinnacles: 1 small Bull (Zambezi) shark. 1 Potato Bass. Huge shoal of Trigger fish. All you usual reef fish. Great to be back in the water.

Between the dives we were entertained with Humpback Whales breaching and some Dolphin action ... awesome stuff!!!!

DIVE 2 - Northern Pinnacles: NON STOP ACTION!!!!! Dropped onto an Oceanic Blacktip shark. Then there must have been at least 5 Potato Bass around us. Also at least 30 Ragged-tooth sharks around on the reef and about 4 in the second cave, where we managed to pick up lots of shark teeth. So many fish around ... it looked like an aquarium. At least 5 Bull (Zambezi)) sharks mid water, with 2 that followed the divers all the way up. WOW, WOW, WOW!!!

On the way back to shore we had a Humpback Whale that got so close to us, we thought the Whale was trying to 'hitch a ride', flippin amazing!!!!

What a day to be in the water ... if you were not on the dive ... you really are a CHOP ... Lol.

Northern Pinnacles: At least 5 Ragged-tooth sharks, 2 Bull (Zambezi) sharks, 1 Hammerhead shark and 1 Potato Bass. Also 2 Round Ribbontail Rays. Huge shoals of Bonito. Great day at sea!!!!

Northern Pinnacles: 1 Bull (Zambezi) shark. 3 Potato Bass. 1 Electric Ray. Lots of shark teeth in cave but no Ragged-tooth sharks today (water too warm). Lots of Surgeon fish. Really nice to be in the water, lovely down there. At least 4 Humpback Whales seen from the boat!!!!!

Northern Pinnacles: Started off with seeing Humpback Whales breaching on the surface, WOW! Saw 3 large Ragged-tooth sharks and loads of beautiful reef fish. We were graced with a MASSIVE sleepy Turtle near the ocean floor and then followed for most of the dive by a Remora. 1 inquisitive Potato Bass at 10m. Really stunning chilled out dive.

Northern Pinnacles: Greeted on the surface by 2 Humpback Whales surrounded by a big pod of Dolphins! Drifted over beautiful small caves and spotted 1 Ragged-tooth shark. Spotted loads of interesting 'jellies' from 18m and were then joined by 2 Oceanic Blacktip sharks who kept coming in and out of view until the 5m safety stop. Another incredible dive!! Watch this space!!

Northern Pinnacles: Dropped in on 3 Bull (Zambezi) sharks and 1 BABY HUMPBACK WHALE! Woohoo! 15 Ragged-tooth sharks around the caves. 1 Potato Bass midwater. Loads of shoaling fish @ 15m. Saw plenty of Triggerfish and reef fish as well. Sea rough but EPIC diving!
