AN AWESOME DAY OF DIVING ON PROTEA BANKS! 3 DIFFERENT SHARK SPECIES SEEN ON THE DIVES.

3 June 2016 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: none
Viz: 10m, cleaning up at the bottom to about 15m
Sea Temp: 19 degrees Celsius at bottom, 22 degrees Celsius top

DIVE 1 – BAITED SHARK DIVE: What a dive! We had upwards of 20 Oceanic Blacktip Sharks on and around the drum throughout the entire dive. 4 Zambezi (Bull) Sharks swam in and out of the group as well. Towards the end of the dive we encountered 3 Ragged Tooth Sharks coming to take a look at the drum. While all of this was taking place we had shoaling Tuna and Rainbow Runners swimming around us. An incredible dive at Protea Banks.

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacles: As we got to the bottom we saw 10 Ragged Tooth Sharks swimming around lazily on the reef. With them were a few Round Ribbontail Rays enjoying themselves. In midwater we started to see more Zambezi (Bull) Sharks and Oceanic Blacktip Sharks. They kept us entertained until we exited the water. What an awesome dive, and well worth the cold water!
