9 April 2015 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: medium
Viz: 35m+
Sea Temp: 24 – 26 degrees Celsius

DIVE 1 – Southern Pinnacle: 1 TIGER shark … so close … I thought he would eat Bryan … lol. 1 Greater Hammerhead shark. Zambezi (Bull), Oceanic Blacktip sharks and Dusky sharks all over … INCREDIBLE. More than 20 Guitar sharks. 4 DOLPHINS seen overhead. 6 Eagle Rays. 4 Round Ribbontail Rays. Shoaling gamefish. Kingfish on Kingfish Gully. A huge Pufferfish. An EEL … Lol. Some stunning jellyfish today. Remora’s all over. ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL DIVING!!!

We did a double tank. Between dives we snorkeled, the viz was so good we could see the reef below … and just for some added spice some DOLPHINS came to swim with us.

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacle (THE ARCH): At least 3 Zambezi (Bull) sharks and at least 1 Oceanic Blacktip sharks. 3 Dusky sharks. More than 20 Guitar sharks. 3 Eagle Rays. At least 4 Round Ribbontail Rays. 1 Potato Bass. Rainbow Runners and Bonito. Another cute Pufferfish. Lots of Remora’s and some Jellyfish.

On the way back we saw a ‘teenager’ HUMPBACK WHALE … so early in the season it was amazing!!!

With flat seas and top to bottom viz, PROTEA BANKS is the place to be!!
