INCREDIBLE ZAMBEZI ACTION ON PROTEA BANKS!!

17 January 2016 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: medium to strong
Viz: 30m till we got to 15m and then the viz was only 5 to 10m, patchy
Sea Temp: 25 degrees Celsius

DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: The water was clear as we got in but as we got deeper the viz reduced. The current had picked up a lot compared to yesterday and was too strong to struggle to get into the caves so we just whizzed by. As we got into mid water the Zambezi (Bull) sharks started appearing and we ended the dive with at least 7 coming in and out – absolutely fantastic. A couple of Oceanic Blacktip sharks attempted to say Hi, but the Zam’s chased them away. Mid water felt an aquarium with Rainbow Runners, Bonito, False Fussliers and Surgeon fish to name a few, flying around us. WHAT A DIVE!!!!

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacle: As we got into the water and were regrouping a Zambezi (Bull) shark already popped in to say Hi, and the Zambezi action did not stop until we got out of the water – at least 4 Zambezi sharks. Just to add a bit of flavour, we had 5 Hammerhead sharks come in very close mid water. At the bottom, loads of reef fish, some Kingfish, a Potato Bass and 2 Round Ribbontail Rays. ANOTHER STUNNING DIVE!!
