Current: medium
Viz: 8 – 15m, good at top and bottom, not so great mid water
Sea Temp: 20 degrees Celsius
HAMMERHEAD SHARKS on both dives!!!
DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: As we got to the bottom we had a Potato Bass or two and lots of shoaling gamefish. Not too much current so made it to the first cave no problem, where we spent most of our bottom time. Only about 5 Ragged-tooth sharks in the cave … found some teeth. As we got out the cave we had a Nudibranch … lol … Paul Russell. In mid water a couple of Hammerhead sharks were seen by some of the divers – viz not fantastic. A few minutes later I saw a Hammerhead shark and then behind it at least 50 Hammerhead sharks, whoop, whoop … soon after another shoal of Hammerhead sharks were spotted … so cool … not at all how I imagined the dive would turn out. Also an Oceanic Blacktip shark mid water.
Also so much interesting Plankton. The sound of Whales for almost the whole dive!!!
DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacle: About 3 Ragged-tooth sharks around the Southern Pinnacle. Also a couple of sightings of Hammerhead sharks. The Southern Pinnacle was stunning today lots of Fingerfin, Kingfish and a nice variety of reef fish, including a Lionfish. Mid water was quiet but we did see lots of interesting Plankton and the Whales were so loud again.
Lots and lots of Whales seen from the boat today, as well as some Flying fish.
