RAINING TIGERS AND HAMMERHEADS TODAY ON PROTEA BANKS.

10 December 2018 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: normal
Viz: 15 – 20m (Plankton on second dive)
Sea Temp: 23 degrees Celsius

DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: As we got down we saw 1 TIGER shark so we went after it and the TIGER decided to turn around and WOW … that is one way to feel small. We also had 1 Zambezi (Bull) shark and on the fishy side we had 2 Cape Yellowtail, 1 Yellowbelly Rockcod, Bream and many more reef fish. Mid water we had Peter chasing around Hammerhead sharks. The TIGER came passed again and at the end we had 1 shoal of Hammerhead sharks.

DIVE 2 – Northern Pinnacle: As we got down to the reef we had 1 shoal of Hammerhead sharks being chased by a pod of Dolphin. Also 40+ ‘shoaling’ Ragged-tooth sharks. In the cave we had some more Ragged-tooth sharks – while everyone picked up shark teeth we had 1 Oceanic Blacktip shark and 1 shoal of Hammerhead sharks passing over. As we drifted we had more Ragged-tooth sharks … the Dolphins came passed again and plenty of reef fish. Mid water we had 1 Oceanic Blacktip shark, 3 sets of shoaling Hammerhead sharks, 1 single Hammerhead shark and 1 TIGER shark.
