Sea Temp: 16 degrees Celsius at the bottom, 22 at the top
DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: As we got into the water we had such a wake up call with the water temperature Brrr!! … made our way to the first cave the reef it was alive so many fishes around. We then had 1 Oceanic Blacktip shark and 3 Ragged-tooth sharks hanging out on the reef. In the second cave had 2 Ragged-tooth sharks and Mr. Potato Bass.
DIVE 2 – Baited Shark Dive: It was a very exciting BAITED dive on Protea Banks today. The viz was less than 5m so when we saw the Oceanic Blacktip sharks they were in your face like “whatssss up or Boe!.” We only had 2 Oceanic Blacktip sharks on our dive, but trust me I think all the divers were pretty happy that there were only 2. (Whales and a Manta Ray seen from the boat).
DIVE 3 – Northern Pinnacle – With the viz being on the down side, it made our dive quite interesting with the element of surprise. We could only see the sharks when there were RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF US!! On the reef we had 2 Potato Bass and 4 Ragged-tooth sharks. Mid water we had 1 Oceanic Blacktip shark popping in and out for the rest of the dive. Lots of Jellyfish and Plankton. (We also had some amazing Whale action from the boat on the way back).
DIVE 4 – Southern Pinnacle: Lots of flying fish from the boat on the way there. The viz got a little better on this dive however super quiet. We had lots of reef fish all over and a Potato Bass in the distance. Mid water was relaxed and we got to have a closer look at all the interesting Jellyfish and Plankton. Good to be in the water and have such a relaxed dive.
Whales and Dolphins seen from the boat.
