WHALE season started on Protea Banks … whoop, whoop!!!!!

14 June 2014 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: mild
Viz: 15m, milky
Sea Temp: 21 degrees Celsius

DIVE 1 – Southern Pinnacles: 1 small Bull (Zambezi) shark. 1 Potato Bass. Huge shoal of Trigger fish. All you usual reef fish. Great to be back in the water.

Between the dives we were entertained with Humpback Whales breaching and some Dolphin action … awesome stuff!!!!

DIVE 2 – Northern Pinnacles: NON STOP ACTION!!!!! Dropped onto an Oceanic Blacktip shark. Then there must have been at least 5 Potato Bass around us. Also at least 30 Ragged-tooth sharks around on the reef and about 4 in the second cave, where we managed to pick up lots of shark teeth. So many fish around … it looked like an aquarium. At least 5 Bull (Zambezi)) sharks mid water, with 2 that followed the divers all the way up. WOW, WOW, WOW!!!

On the way back to shore we had a Humpback Whale that got so close to us, we thought the Whale was trying to ‘hitch a ride’, flippin amazing!!!!

What a day to be in the water … if you were not on the dive … you really are a CHOP … Lol.
