4 SPECIES OF SHARKS TODAY ON PROTEA BANKS!!!!

7 May 2016 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: medium to strong
Viz: 8m, clean but very milky
Sea Temp: 24 degrees Celsius

DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: Current pulled us along the reef. We had an encounter with a Potato Bass. Some reef fish around. In mid water most of the action took place – Bull (Zambezi) sharks, Oceanic Blacktip sharks and some Dusky sharks popping in and out on the way up. Also some cheeky Remora’s.

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacle: Lots of reef fish and some gamefish around. Lots of Rainbow Runners. On Sand shark Gully there was a huge shoal of Kingfish herded along by 2 Zambezi (Bull) sharks. Mid water we had some Zambezi (Bull) shark, Oceanic Blacktip shark and Hammerhead shark action. I was ‘attacked’ by a Remora … lol.

Some Dolphins came past the boat just before we got in the water and they had a cute baba.

Well worth the early morning meeting time.
