1 July 2013 | PROTEA BANKS
Current: mild
Viz: 12 – 15m, a bit milky and grey
Sea Temp: 22 degrees Celsius
DIVE 1 – Southern Pinnacles: 1 Oceanic Blacktip shark, briefly. 1 Potato Bass. No current so got time to explore the reef for a change and the reef was alive with lots of reef fish. Bradley even had a chance to check out a crayfish … I think his tummy was going yum, yum. Also so many Trigger fish, never seen so many in one place before. Really enjoyed the dive, a different side to Protea Banks.
DIVE 2 – BAITED SHARK DIVE: At least 4 Bull (Zambezi) sharks and 4 Oceanic Blacktip sharks in out out of the dive for the entire 70 minutes. What made it magical is that there was also loads of fish activity. Bonito, Tuna, Trigger fish, to name but a few, dashing in and out. Had a HUGE shoal of Blacktip Kingfish, chasing behind the sharks … wow what a sight. Also had a Potato Bass come in the the beginning. LOVED THIS DIVE!!!!!!
Humpback Whales also seen from the boat breaching right out the water.
