BAITED AND REEF DIVE ON PROTEA BANKS TODAY!!!

2 January 2015 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: medium
Viz: clean near the surface, with a dirty band mid water and cleaner at the bottom
Sea Temp: 19 degrees Celsius at the bottom, 23 degrees near the surface

DIVE 1 – BAITED SHARK DIVE: 1 Dusky shark near the beginning of the dive before the rest of the group got in. 3 Zambezi (Bull) sharks, one BIG one that stayed with us for the entire dive. The interaction was amazing …

Dolphins seen from the boat on the way back.

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacles: There was a dirty layer mid water and at the bottom was cold … brrrr … A relatively quiet dive … not much current so we had a good look at the reef and the reef fish. We also saw a Potato Bass on the reef. Halfway through the dive we had a Bull (Zambezi) shark come past us briefly and near the end of the dive an Oceanic Blacktip shark. Lots of very cool Plankton.

Can’t complain about the start to the new year …
