DOLPHINS ABOVE AND BELOW WATER ON PROTEA BANKS!

14 June 2015 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: very strong (‘The Protea Express’)
Viz: 10m (lots of Plankton)
Sea Temp: 22 degrees Celsius at the bottom, much warmer on the surface

Northern Pinnacles: As we launched there was a pod of Dolphins. On the way to the dive sight I saw a Whale breach right out the water on the horizon – pretty cool.

The current was very strong, we went flying past the first cave. I only managed to see 2 Ragged-tooth sharks. We also saw two Oceanic Blacktip sharks and 1 Hammerhead shark on the dive. There was also a Potato Bass at the bottom. Also saw a few Bonito. The rest of the reef fish we saw very quickly.

At 5m we had Dolphins come through. A nice surprise.

On the way back we saw a few Whales and then one breached right next to the boat … WOW!!

With the sun shining and flat seas, well worth a day out!!
