10 December 2020 | PROTEA BANKS
Current: strong
Viz: 10m, milky
Sea Temp: 21 degrees Celsius
Southern Pinnacle: As we backwards rolled and made our way down it was clear we didn’t have the best viz. Whilst making our way down we descended straight onto a group of Hammerheads group including 3 big Greater Hammerheads. After our quick Hammer interaction we re-positioned ourselves for the fast pace drift over the reef. Our local Potato Bass friend came to say hello but we actually couldn’t spend any time with her due to need to keep posture and balance, just as she had left us we came across a good sized Turtle just before Kingfish Gully. As we zoomed in through Kingfish Gully, there was a lot of life in the bowl all hiding away from the current using minimal energy. After Kingfish Gully we again saw some Hammerheads but at a bit of a distance. With our clearly strong current today we started heading out to sea at this point to make sure we get to Sandshark Gully, once there we saw about 10 Sandsharks and about 15 Round Ribbontail rays.
