GREAT TO BE ON PROTEA BANKS AGAIN … HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY TO THE SHELLY SKI BOAT CLUB!!!!

14 December 2014 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: mild
Viz: 5 to 10m, patches of good and bad viz
Sea Temp: 19 degrees Celsius

Southern Pinnacles: So today we launched a bit early to join in the Shelly Ski Boat 40th Birthday ‘fly by’, but the east started picking up so we decided to rather head off to the reef.

With the bad viz we have been having, there was a huge improvement today but not the viz we expect from Protea. There was barely any current, so it was good to explore the reef which was full of reef fish. We also encountered 2 big Round Ribbontail Rays. Not much shark action but we did get a Greater Hammerhead shark mid water.

Lots and lots of Plankton in the water today which kept us entertained on the safety stop.
