Hammerhead sharks and Prodigal sons …

27 December 2012 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: strong
Viz: 20 – 25m
Sea Temp: 25 degrees Celsius

DIVE 1 – Southern Pinnacles: Reef bustling with fish!! Sea goldies, Moorish Idols, Tuna, Surgeons, Pufferfish to name a few. But the cream of the crop was having 100’s and 100’s of Hammerhead sharks in at least 5-6 groups throughout the dive! What an amazing day to be under the water!!!

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacles: Dropped into clear blue water – lovely!! Strong current, but the reef still full of fish! Drifted past a big Round Ribbontail Ray and also spotted about 5 Prodigal Sons! WOW! Mid water, we had 1 Oceanic Blacktip shark come and see what was happening – and we ended our dive with beautiful ‘jellies’ on our 5m safety stop. What a great dive!!!
