HAMMERHEADS, RAGGIES AND WAY MORE …

20 November 2018 | PROTEA BANKS

Current: mild, reverse
Viz: 15 – 20m
Sea Temp: 18 degrees Celsius at the bottom, 20 at the top

DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: On the way down we saw 3 Potato Bass sneaking out the cave. In the cave we had no Raggies but the reef was full of Ragged-tooth sharks. As we struggled to swim against the slight reverse current one diver saw a shoal of Hammerhead sharks and then it happened we got superpowers and the current was no challenge anymore. Mid water we had 1 Dusky shark, 2 Oceanic Blacktip sharks and 3 Potato Bass.

DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacle: On the reef we had loads of Ragged-tooth sharks, the fish life was booming today with Tropicals, Green Jobfish, Poensies, Cape Yellowtail, Rock Salmon and lots more. We didn’t have any sharks mid water but while we had our long bottom time in the cold water we had 2 Oceanic Blacktip sharks chilling in the warmer mid water.

Whales and Dolphins seen from the boat.
