20 July 2018 | PROTEA BANKS
Current: strong
Viz: 15m milky
Sea Temp: 22 degrees Celsius
DIVE 1 – Northern Pinnacle: Managed to get to the second cave but no Ragged-tooth action. Current sucked me out the cave and we saw a Potato Bass, a Bridle Bass and a Malabar Rockcod as well as lots of reef fish. Made it ‘La la la land’, it was stunning. Just as we started making out way up, we saw a Greater Hammerhead shark, an Oceanic Blacktip shark and an Eagle Ray. On the way up we had a couple of Oceanic Blacktip sharks popping in.
DIVE 2 – Southern Pinnacle: What a great dive … and great to see the Hammerheads are on their way back to Protea Banks. We had regular sighting of Hammerhead sharks from the beginning of the dive to the end. We also had an Oceanic Blacktip shark. On the reef we had a great variety of reef fish.
So many Whales seen breaching from the boat and we could hear them underwater for the whole dive.
